Today, as the world looks to the Indian tradition of knowledge and the philosophy of Yoga with renewed hope, the publication of such texts based on the life and philosophy of Mahayogi Guru Shri Gorakhnath Ji is of utmost importance. This is not merely a literary work, but a meaningful bridge for transmitting our cultural memory, spiritual heritage, and eternal life values to future generations.

It is commendable that the Shri Ram Katha Sansthan, Perth (Australia), is working to promote Indian culture, Sanatan Dharma, the Hindi language, and spiritual literature from a distant foreign land. This effort is an important medium for strengthening reverence, affection, and awareness for Indian culture worldwide.

I am confident that ‘Adbhut Gorakhnath Katha Kavya’ will prove to be equally inspiring for devotees, researchers, students, and general readers alike. This book will play a significant role in preserving and promoting the glorious heritage of the Nath tradition by conveying the divine personality of Mahayogi Guru Shri Gorakhnath Ji and His eternal message to the masses.

I once again extend my heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Yatendra Sharma Ji, Shri Ram Katha Sansthan, Perth (Australia) for this pious publication. and all the associates involved in this work. May this book, by the immense grace of Mahayogi Guru Shri Gorakhnath Ji, receive widespread public acceptance and spread the light of spiritual consciousness among the people.

My heartfelt best wishes!

Signed

(Yogi Adityanath)

The independent editor of Wikipedia writes:

Spiritual Significance

Rama Navami is not only a celebration of the birth of Lord Rama but also holds deep spiritual significance in Hindu tradition. The festival underscores the ideals of dharma (righteousness), devotion, and the pursuit of truth, as exemplified by Rama’s life. According to Dr. Yatendra Sharma, “Rama Navami inspires devotees to reflect on the virtues of Lord Rama and encourages the practice of humility, compassion, and adherence to one’s duties, serving as a reminder to lead a life guided by moral principles.”[29] The observance of Rama Navami, through fasting, recitation of scriptures, and community celebrations, is seen as an opportunity for spiritual renewal and the strengthening of ethical values within society.[30]

  1. Chandraghanta – Wikipedia

The independent editor of Wikipedia writes:

Wedding to Shiva

Long ago, after her deep penance, Parvati was finally to be married to Shiva. The great day arrived, and Shiva came with his wedding procession. But his appearance was unlike any groom anyone had ever seen. His body was smeared with ash, snakes coiled around his neck, a garland of skulls rested on him, and he rode upon his mighty bull, Nandi. Behind him followed a strange company—ghosts, spirits, ascetics, and ganas, all howling and dancing wildly. The members of Parvati’s family were terrified. The joyous wedding atmosphere turned into fear and confusion.

Seeing this, Parvati smiled calmly. She understood that to protect her family’s honor and to bring balance to Shiva’s wild form, she needed to show her own divine strength. At that moment, she transformed into Chandraghanta. She appeared radiant, riding on a lion, her ten hands holding weapons of power—trident, sword, bow, arrow, mace, lotus, and more. Upon her forehead shone a crescent moon shaped like a bell, from which she got her name, Chandraghanta.

As she approached Shiva with this form, he attempted to pacify her, requesting her to return to her true form. She obliged, and in turn asked him to assume his own benevolent form. Their wedding then commenced with great pomp.[3]

C. “Vivek Chudamani Hindi Bhakti Kavya’ Composed By Dr Yatendra Sharma

  1. Review of the book by Professor Dr Pushpa Rani, Kurukshetra University, India. The review is published as ‘Foreword’ of the above book.

Professor Dr Pushpa Rani, Chairperson Hindi Department, Kurukshetra University (An expert in Sanatan Philosophy) writes:

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

This is the path of self-realization established by Adi Shankaracharya, through which ignorance naturally recedes. To make it accessible, Acharya Shankaracharya composed the Sanskrit treatise “Vivekacūḍāmaṇi,” which is an extremely important work of Advaita Vedanta.

Dr. Yatendra Sharma has conducted a research-based study of the “Vivekacūḍāmṇi” and presented it in an extremely simple form to make it accessible to everyone, which will prove highly beneficial. This must have been the same vision of Adi Shankaracharya in his time, but the difficulty arises from the limited use and popularity of Sanskrit in everyday life, which makes the original text complex and beyond the understanding of the general public. Dr. Yatendra Sharma has translated those verses into simple Hindi which is certainly a great work. From this perspective, his role in spreading knowledge of philosophy to the general public becomes extremely important. The learned author has made this work accessible to the public by presenting even its difficult topics with simplicity. This will prove extremely useful for spreading the essence of Advaita Vedanta, the foremost of Indian philosophies, on the global horizon and for practical application. I am confident that, inspired by this, the translation and dissemination of the original Vedas, scriptures, Upanishads, Puranas, and Vedic astrology and mathematics of the Indian tradition into vernacular languages will also increase, which will be beneficial for the welfare of the entire world and help establish peace.

D. Shrimadbhagwadgita Hindi Bhakti Kavya Composed by Dr Yatendra Sharma

  1. Review of the book by Professor Vijay Mishra, Murdoch University, Western Australia. The review may be downloaded from the following link.

Professor Vijay Mishra of Murdoch University, Western Australia, an expert in Hindu tradition and culture, writes:

Thank you so much for you edition of the Bhagavadgita. A tremendous achievement, replete with translations of shlokas into Chhands.

The work is an admirable labour of love and dedication and indicates the kind of work that can be done with single-minded dedication and, even, personal sacrifice.

I have listened to people discussing the Gita along the lines of your commentary but no one has actually transformed their verbal commentaries into a written text. Indeed, the one commentary that Hindus in Perth use for their Gita discourses (bhashans) is Chidbhavananda’s 1,000-page long commentary on the Gita but reading your work Chidbhavananda’s commentary fades into insignificance.

Of course, as a colonial with training in the tradition of the European Enlightenment (and someone for whom manak Hindi is not a mother tongue), I may have written about and interpreted the Gita differently (see my Devotional Poetics and the Indian Sublime, New York, 1998) but this statement of scholarly difference should not in any way detract from your remarkable achievement.

J. Felicitation by Federation of Indian Associations of Western Australia on 26 January 2025. The Citation can be downloaded from the following link.

Felicitation cites:

Dr Sharma developed an interest in reading, listening, and narrating religious scriptures since his childhood. He memorised several Hindu Sanskrit scriptures such as Kaumudi at an age of 6. Though now retired from his professional career as a metallurgist having a PhD in Chemical Technology from the Technical University of Graz, Austria, he served the mining and mineral industry of Western Australia for more than three decades. In 2016, he founded a Vaishnav religious organisation ‘Shri Ram Katha Sansthan’ based on the teachings of Shri Raamanandi Sampraday. Shri Ram Katha Sansthan is a non-discriminatory to any religion, caste, sex and social status of the devotees. Its main principle is, ‘Hari Ko Bhaje, So Hari Ko Hoi’, the one who worships the Lord, is dear to the Lord. Shri Sansthan believes that the worship of the Lord with pure heart and unselfish attitude is very dear to the Lord. All the devotees of the Lord are brothers and sisters.

Dr Sharma and this Sansthan have been active in promoting Hindu Sanatan culture. He has authored and published more than 30 books/ booklets on Sanatan Dharma. Recently he composed a Mahakavya ‘Shrimadbhagwadgita Hindi Bhakti Kaavy’ translating in Hindi poetry all 700 Shloks of Shrimadbhagwadgita. This book is blessed by HH Shrengari Shankaracharya Ji, RSS Pramukh Shri Mohan Bhagwat Ji and several other Mathadheesh and political figures in India. He has composed several Mahaakaavys few names to mention, ‘Adbhut Sita Charit Manas’, ‘Vivek Chunamani’ ‘Jagannath Mahatmaya’ etc.
